International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Narinder Dhruv Batra filed his nomination for the 47th FIH Statutory Congress of the apex body for the election to be held in Delhi on 22 May. Batra, who is also the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), will contest. Second term in the upcoming elections to the governing body of hockey. Mark Coudron of Belgium will contest against Batra for the position of FIH president, the apex body confirmed on Saturday. “The International Hockey Federation (FIH) can now confirm the nomination received by the March 12 (midnight CET) deadline for the following positions to be elected at the 47th FIH Statutory Congress to be held on 22 May 2021 in Delhi, India., “FIH said in an official statement.
“For the post of FIH President: Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra, IND (candidate for re-election), Mark Coudron, BEL and Ordinary Member for the posts of Executive Board (EB): Danae Andrada, URU (Candidate for re-election )), Hazel Kennedy, ZAM (candidate for re-election) and Inz Cooper, “read the statement further.
Eric Kornelissen (candidate for re-election) and Tayyib Ikram (candidate for re-election) and Ediga Bede Agbo will also contest for executive board (EB) positions as male members.
Last month, Batra referred to FIH’s recent achievements and decisions and said that since 2016, the federation has started its global home-and-league – the FIH Hockey Pro League, creating other new events – the FIH Nations Cup as well as FIH Hockey 5 World Cup and World Tour.
