Describing the party’s manifesto as the “second hero” of the DMK on Saturday, party president MK Stalin said a separate government department would be set up to implement the promises made in the manifesto.

Announcing the ‘Kalaignar Unvagam’ scheme on the lines of Amma Unagaam established by the AIADMK, the DMK also promised that such places would be built where workers could stay overnight.
Temple renovations
The manifesto states that Hindu temples will be restored at a cost of ₹ 1,000 crore. The churches will get ₹ 200 crores for restoration. Sponsored spiritual tours covering famous temples will be organized.
The manifesto also promises a separate board for journalists. The pension of journalists will increase, it said.
Among other announcements are a separate department for the restoration and natural farming of the Buckingham Canal.
