Tiling roofs and solar panels have now replaced many trolleys on the Singhu border, where farmers have been camping for more than three months. Rows of tractors and trolleys holding the fort at the borders of the capital and a common sight since the movement began, are now given small hut-like structures with thatched roofs to house protesting farmers.

Farmers in Delhi’s borders are demanding legal guarantees of the minimum support price (MSP) and the cancellation of three controversial agricultural laws brought by the Center last year.

The protesting farmers said that while several sets of solar panels were distributed along the Tikri border, more units would be brought to the Singhu border to disrupt the movement if the government cut power.

“For the current season, this is enough. Once the heat rises, we will get air conditioners and solar panels to support it. The way things are moving, we want to be self-sufficient as the government can do anything and can also cut down the supply of electricity. We want to have our own system so that the protests continue, ”Mr. Singh said.

Farmer Satinder Singh Gill of Hera village in Ludhiana said that the process of installing solar panels for the people of his village has started.

“We have sent four solar panels to the Tikari border and two panels to the Singhu border. Solar panels will be installed on the roof, which we are in the process of manufacturing.
