The Mavoor Merchants Association has demanded that the state government implement projects to use the Gwalior Rains (Grasim) land in Mavoor.
The possibilities of developing land under the Birla Group were discussed in Mavoor on Friday. Participants in the discussion said that the land had not been used for decades since the closure of the Gwalior Raynes factory, and it had now become a hub for miscreants.
Subir Kolakkadan, president of the Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry, suggested that the use of the land be managed by an industrial park, a stadium-cum-sports village, a commercial park, or even an institution like Bits Pilani, Birla.
A press release said that TC Ahmed, president of the Greater Malabar Initiative, was the honored guest.
