More than 44,000 senior citizens vaccinated in Ernakulam

45,190 seniors with COVID-19 vaccine and 2,066 people over 45 years of age have taken the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine in Ernakulam since registration began on March 1.

The District Medical Officer said that a mass vaccination campaign will be launched at the municipal and corporation level soon. Currently, the city has three mass vaccination centers – IMA House on Chittoor Road, YMCA Hall, and Amrita Arts and Science College – said that the nodal officer for immunization in the district was Dr. MG Shivdas.

Among health workers, 62,312 have taken the first pill. Of them, 30,755 have also taken a second dose. A total of 40,072 frontline employees have been vaccinated with the first dose, and 99 of them have also taken the second dose.

On Friday, 100 vaccination centers were arranged – 57 at government facilities and 43 in private hospitals.

“Around 17,000 doses were given on Friday, although a final figure is not yet available. From next week, the target for the district will be 25,000 doses per day, and the number of immunization centers will be increased.
