The Sound and Light program at Mysuru Palace, which was suspended for almost a year due to COVID-19, is set to resume from March 15.
It will be held every evening except Sundays and government holidays.
The event, also known as Son et Lumiere, seeks to showcase the 400-year-old history of Mysuru through the light on the palace, narration and background sound. Apart from history, the program also reveals the cultural heritage and contribution of Wadiyar.
According to an event released by the Deputy Director of Mysuru Palace, the Kannada version of the program will be held on all Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7 pm to 8 pm, while the English version will be held from 7 pm to 8 pm. Thursdays and Fridays.
On Saturday, two events will be held. While the English version will be between 7 pm and 8 pm, the Kannada version will be held between 8.15 pm and 9.15 pm
The entry fee for the Kannada version is annada 70 for an adult and a 30 for a child. The entry fee for the English version is version 80 for an adult and version 40 for a child.
Light
Meanwhile, the Mysuru palace will also be illuminated for 15 minutes at the end of the show from Monday to Saturday at 7.45 pm between 8 pm. The second Sound and Light program on Saturday will also illuminate the palace from 9 pm to 9.15 pm.
The statement said that on Sundays and government holidays, the palace would be illuminated from 7 pm to 8 pm.
The Sound and Light program was suspended since the nationwide lockout was announced in March last year. Even though the palace reopened in June and the lights were temporarily reintroduced during Dasara 2020, sound and light were suspended.
The announcement to resume the program comes not only amid frequent visits to the city by newly appointed Minister for Tourism CP Yogeshwar, but also at a time when COVID-19 cases, especially in the neighboring states of Kerala and Maharashtra, Spike has arrived. Due to which the tourism industry in Mysuru has also suffered a setback.
