According to data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO), the rate of price rise in the food basket increased to 3.87% in February from 1.89% in the previous month.

Inflation in the ‘fuel and light’ category rose 3.53% during the month to 3.87% in January.

The Reserve Bank, which is primarily a factor of retail inflation during its monetary policy, has been asked to keep CPI inflation at 4 percent, with a margin of 2% on either side.
