Member of Parliament and Executive President of Telangana Congress A. Revanth Reddy blamed the TRS government for not providing a detailed project report (DPR) despite the Central Government shelving the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project for it.
He said that the Central Government had informed the Lok Sabha on shelving the project on a question raised by TRS MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy in 2018, stating that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology would be asked by the Telangana government on the project. No representation is found.
In another question in the Lok Sabha by Shri Prabhakar Reddy on July 3, 2019, the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology categorically stated that the Telangana government was asked to give the required information to the concerned ministries, but there was no response. “It clearly shows that the project was scrapped because the Telangana government failed to furnish the necessary information,” he told a press conference here.
The Telangana government and IT minister KT Rama Rao should take the blame for shelving the project which was given by the Congress government for direct employment to 1.5 million people and indirect employment to 5.5 million people, Mr. Reddy argued. Now Mr. KTR is raising the issue to mislead the youth in MLC elections and is trying to divert attention and cover up his failures, he alleged.
Now graduates must question the government as to why the government failed to provide a DPR for a project that had the potential to convert Hyderabad into another Silicon Valley, Mr. Reddy claimed. As per the ITIR policy, the Telangana government was to build infrastructure by spending ores 13,000 crore and this would have attracted an investment of ₹ 1.18 lakh crore from the IT and ITES sector and ₹ 1.01 lakh crore from the electronic and hardware sector.
Illegal transfer of land
Mr. Revanth Reddy also alleged that the expensive lands given by previous governments for setting up industries are now being sold at a lower price to the group of people close to IT Minister KT Rama Rao after changing the policy. He said that previous Congress governments had allotted land for industries on the outskirts.
With the expansion of the city those industries became part of the city and in 2108 the government allowed them to change the status of the land to use for non-polluting industries such as the IT sector. The facility is now being used to acquire expensive land from the owners, who were handing over the people close to Mr. KTR and officials including the Chief Secretary, Somesh Kumar. All these lands have now been converted into residential lands.
