The accident occurred after a vehicle collided with a culvert on the National Highway and fell into a roadside drain.
One person died on the spot and five others were injured when they collided with an SUV, a culvert traveling on National Highway No. 44, and fell into a roadside drain on Friday morning.
Pamedi Rural Circle Inspector M. Shyama Rao said the deceased was identified as 25-year-old Srisailam Sai Krishna, who was driving the vehicle. The accident occurred at 7.40 am in front of Gates College on the outskirts of Gooty on the highway, while the driver tried to save a dog from getting under the wheel of the vehicle.
The vehicle turned to its left and collided with a culvert and fell into a torrent of rain water causing death of one person and causing serious injuries to five others – Rakesh, Jaiprakash, Lokesh, Naveen Kumar and Chandra Mukesh. All those living in Anantapur city have been shifted to Anantapur GGH for treatment. The condition of two of the injured is critical.
The gang of friends went to Srisailam in a vehicle owned by the father of the deceased. He came back to his home after seeing Lord Shiva on Shivaratri.
