Police said a 36-year-old man allegedly died in Najafgarh in Dwarka early Thursday during a celebration of his brother’s birthday.
No arrests have been made in the case so far. Police said it appeared to be a case of festive firing.
He said that the victim has been identified as Anuj Sharma, a resident of Uttam Nagar and the accused has been identified as his friend Naveen.
Police said that they received a call from a private hospital at 12.58 am and were informed that the person injured by the bullet was brought to the hospital.
During the initial interrogation, the police said, it was found that a party was being held in a farmhouse to celebrate the birthday of Anuj’s younger brother, Prateek Rishi, and 10-12 persons were attending the same. “One of Anuj’s friends, Naveen started firing with a pistol and a bullet hit his chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
“A case has been registered and teams are searching for the accused,” the official said.
