Someone give David Coolie a hand, please.
Deshaun Watson and Texas, seemingly, are still rising to division at some point. The organization has kept things quiet while talking about Watson’s availability, but that has changed a bit on Thursday.
David Texley, the head coach of the new Texas, is essentially a Donald Glover giff, in which he goes to a burning room with a pile of pizza and sees everyone else trying to put it in flames; Culley appeared on the “Huddle and Flow” podcast with Jim Trotter and Steve Witch, and cast some doubt on Watson’s future with the organization.
“That’s our starting quarter right now,” Coolie said. “He’s our starting quarterback. Things happen between now and then. We’ll see what happens.”

The “right now” part is particularly telling, given that the team committed to be Watson’s Texan at the start of the 2021 season. “Abhi means”, well, right now, and as Kuli mentioned, things can change between now and then.
But later in the day at a news conference, as Coolie reiterated Houston’s commitment to Watson as a quarterback, he said Watson’s commitment to the team was essentially as strong as it has ever been, And he is no indication that Watson wants out. In Houston.
David Coolie just said that he is unaware of Deshaun Watson.

Q: You said that you are committed to Deshaton Watson. Is Country Watson committed to you guys?
David Coolie: “Yes he is.”
Q: How do you know?
Culley: “He is a Houston Texan.”

David Coolley on contingency planning if David Watson did not report: ‘Right now, there is no contingency plan. He is a Houston Texan. We are committed to that, as I said earlier. ‘

You’ll feel for the porter: entering his first season as the NFL head coach at the age of 65 and clarifying the drama between Watson and the organization. And looking at their responses, it may not work.
Watson, reportedly, is done with the organization as a whole. Someone might want to let Culley go, even at that.
