Indian American businessman and leader of a Democratic Party in the US, Lutfi Hassan, who moved to the US from Hyderabad in the early 1980s, joined the Gandhi Mandela Foundation (GMF) as a trust member on Thursday.
Founder President of Apex Group of Companies in the US, Mr. Hassan was sworn in as President of the Foundation for America-America and the region. He was sworn in by the General Secretary of GMF Nandan Jha at the Foundation Headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday.
According to a press release issued by GMF, Syed Yahya Bukhari, President of Jama Masjid United Forum, was present during the swearing in of Mr. Hasan. Mr. Bukhari presented the Gandhi Mandela Medal as a memento to Mr. Hasan on the occasion.
Regarding his new role, Mr. Hassan said, “My job is to involve the younger generation in the work being done by the GMF and link them to the ideology of Gandhi and Mandela. I see a lot of young people here who are very excited to be a part of this fabric. Similarly, I would like to expand the mission in America and carry it forward ”.
GMF is a trust registered by the Government of India with its headquarters in New Delhi promoting personal freedom, civil liberties and human rights worldwide and has a presence in the US, Africa, Russia, Great Britain, Switzerland, China, Nepal and Bangladesh is.
Mr. Hassan is an established civic leader who represents the South Asian community in mainstream American politics. He has served as an advisor on presidential, gubernatorial, sanatorial, congressional, mayoral, and judicial campaigns in the US, including as co-chair of the National Finance for Obama’s National Campaign for Obama in both 2008 and 2012. Huh.
Most recently, Mr. Hassan served on the advisory board for South Asian for Joe Biden during the presidential run-up. He was among a select few from the South Asian community who were invited to the Biden-Harris opening ceremony.
