PSL: Pakistan Cricket Board creates June window for organizing matches

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the franchisees are aiming to rezone the remaining 20 Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Karachi in June. “This was unanimously agreed upon by the six franchise owners and the PCB in a meeting held on Thursday evening,” the PCB said in a statement. The PCB said that June emerged as the most preferred and viable window in late March-April and August-September due to the international commitments of Pakistan’s men’s team.

“The remaining 20 matches in June are now being planned after the return of the men’s national cricket team from Zimbabwe on May 13 and before leaving for England on June 26. On Sunday, the PCB named an independent fact-finding panel that would review the bio-safe protocol imposed during the PSL.

“Specialized infectious disease specialists Dr. Syed Faisal Mahmood and Dr. Salma Muhammad Abbas have been appointed as independent members of the two-man fact-finding panel which deals with bio-safe protocols as well as by-elections imposed during Pakistan Review. Super League 6, ”the PCB said.

The board had said that the independent panel would submit its findings and recommendations to PCB chairman Ehsan Mani by 31 March.

Earlier, the sixth season of PSL was postponed following a string of positive COVID-19 cases.

The PCB had said that the decision was taken after seven cases were revealed in the competition, which began on 20 February.
