Shivpura in Maddur to host ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’

Shivapura village in Maddur is one of the 75 places in the country where the 75th anniversary of the freedom movement – the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence – is being celebrated on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the program at Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat on Friday. Mandya district administration is celebrating on the occasion of “Satyagraha Saudha” in Shivpura, which starts at 6 am

The event will take place from 6 am to 7 am with a yoga performance by around 75 yoga enthusiasts. This is being done by the Department of AYUSH. In addition, a massive cleanliness drive will be carried out in Maddur city at the same time.

After this, “Sarva Dharma” prayer will be offered by the members of the Department of Public Instruction from seven in the morning to 7.15 in the morning. The area around “Satyagraha Saudha” will come alive as the attractive Rangoli will be prepared using millet (Siri Dhanya). Along with this, Rangoli competition will be organized after drawing of the tricolor rangoli from 7.30 am to 8.30 am.

Cycle batches have been organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Empowerment from 7.15 am to 8 am, followed by a half marathon at Maddur Taluk Stadium from 8 am to 8.30 am.

Other attractions on the occasion included a march past at the stadium, a procession of bullock carts on the streets of Maddur, a procession of participants dressed in those who were at the forefront of the freedom movement, the police band and the march past of NCC and NSS cadets from 8.30 to 9 in the morning O’clock

The Khadi Board has organized an expo of its products, books on the freedom struggle, postage stamp display inside Sauda, ​​horticulture expo at 9.15 am and screening of a documentary on the Dandi March.

Interestingly, the history behind the freedom movement in Shivpura will be narrated as an exhibition in Saudha. After this, cultural programs will be organized on the main stage in front of Saudha at 10 am.

From 4 pm to 5 pm, in addition to planting of medicinal plants by the Department of AYUSH, the Forest Department will plant more than 75 different species of plants in the city. Another attraction awaiting the contestants is the laser show at 7 pm on the history of the freedom movement of Shivpura.

Outside the Saudha, people from the Khadi Board will perform Charka and students will mark the Independence Movement on a white cloth fitted on the main roads of Maddur to mark the occasion.
