Next time you get ready to watch a movie or favourite show on your Sky Q box or new Sky Glass TV it’s worth seeing if you can spot one of seven useful codes on the programme information page. All content found on Sky’s platforms will feature numerous letters which usually sit alongside the show’s running time and if you’ve been left baffled by them then Sky has the answers.
The firm has revealed exactly what these cryptic codes mean and, whilst some may seem obvious, others will definitely surprise you. For example, the letter W means the content is available to view in a widescreen format but not in high definition.
Then there’s DS which reveals you’re about to be blown away by stunning audio thanks to full surround sound.
Anyone with hearing difficulties should look out for SL as this means the show has a sign language option.
More obvious codes include S for subtitles and there’s UHD which confirms the movie or show you are about to watch is available in pin-sharp Ultra High Definition 4K.
So, there you have them…we hope you find them useful.
Now for some more news from Sky and anyone who has been waiting to buy the latest Glass TV will be thrilled. Since this television was announced last October it’s been really hard to take delivery of one.
In fact, up until this week, only Sky VIP members could pre-order Glass but that’s changed with all customers now able to pop this connected telly in their shopping basket. Most colours including Anthracite Black, Ocean Blue, Racing Green and Dusky Pink are available on Sky’s website with things starting from just £13 per month.
That’s for the smaller 43-inch model with things rising to £17 for the 55-inch screen and £21 for the supersized 65-inch display. Along with the screen, Glass also features a built-in set-top box and powerful soundbar plus there’s no need for a dish with all content beamed to the display via the internet.
Other features include a colour matched remote control with backlit keys and improved integration with other platforms such as Disney+, Netflix and Apple TV+.
