Windows fans are about to be treated to a great-sounding new laptop. This all-new portable PC has been revealed by Lenovo at the CES technology show in Las Vegas and not only features a striking design but also some very impressive sound that’s powered by Bowers & Wilkins.
For those who may not be aware, this British audio company has been making some of the world’s finest speakers and headphones since 1966. Its products are regarded as some of the best in the business with its iconic Zeplin Bluetooth speaker recently winning a host of awards for design and sound.
Now, this expertise is finally coming to a laptop with Lenovo’s new Yoga 9i convertible arriving packed with technology that should make a boxset binge sound better than ever.
Bowers & Wilkins has managed to cram a four-speaker system – featuring bespoke high-quality drivers including two tweeters and two mid/bass woofers – into the thin body of the laptop.
Two speakers have been placed inside the product’s 360° rotating
soundbar hinge which means they always face the users while two additional sideways-firing speakers are fitted along the edges of the product.
This should produce some pretty epic full directional sound.
Bowers & Wilkins says that by carefully designing the speaker enclosures and selecting the highest quality components while optimising their position within the soundbar hinge, it has produced a large scale, high resolution, low distortion and accurate sound that projects far beyond the enclosure and brings new realism to the on-screen content. We’ll have to wait until we get our hands on to see just how true this is.
“The team at Bowers & Wilkins is always excited to work with world-leading companies with a similar philosophy to our own,” said Bowers & Wilkins’ Dave Sheen.
“Like Lenovo, we think and act differently to redefine what is possible for performance in a different form factor.
I’m delighted that we are collaborating with a company also focused on going beyond the conventional and intent on reshaping its markets.”
Along with that audio boost, the Lenovo Yoga 9i should look pretty good as well with it featuring a 14-inch 4K OLED screen. This display gets touch technology and pushes right to the edge of the case.
There’s also long battery life and Intel’s 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor.
The Lenovo Yoga 9i convertible laptop is expected to be available globally in the spring with prices starting from $1,399.
