Another MLA from Srivilliputtur, M. Chandraprabha also purchased a new vehicle for campaigning, but he has not been given a ticket, while AIADMK caretaker M. Thangaraj also says that he was promised a ticket that was not implemented.
The AIADMK MLA, MSR Rajavarman, joined the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) on Thursday after being denied a party ticket from the Satpur assembly seat. Another frustrated party executive, ‘Gokulam’ M. Thangaraj (57) is choosing to contest from Virudhunagar assembly seat as an independent candidate.
Mr Rajavarman had alleged that Dairy Development Minister, KT Rajanthra Bhalaji was behind the rejection of his party ticket. He joined AMMK in Chennai on Thursday in the presence of his general secretary TTV Dhinakaran.
Mr. Rajavarman had already warned that his supporters would ensure the defeat of Mr. Bhalaji in the assembly elections wherever he contested. Mr. Bhalaji, a two-time MLA and Minister from Sivakasi Assembly constituency, has now shifted to Rajapalayam.
A release from AIADMK stated that Mr. Rajavarman was expelled from the party for anti-party activities.
‘Spend my fortune for the party’
AIADMK Acting M. Thangaraja complained that he had spent his fortune distributing welfare aid in Virudhunagar assembly constituency for the last three years after promising a party ticket from Virudhunagar assembly seat.
“I distributed essential commodities to at least 68,000 families during the COVID-19 epidemic. I also spent for the party’s expenses when Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami visited Virudhunagar twice. I did all this according to the advice of Mr. Bhalji, ”said Mr. Thangaraj, a realtor and industrialist. He was given the post of party secretary of the party MGR Mandram.
“The party coordinator, O. Panneerselvam, also gave me an assurance that the party ticket would be given to me,” he said.
However, Mr. Thangaraj was in a shock when on Wednesday Virudhunagar assembly constituency was allotted to AIADMK’s ally, BJP. “If the minister wanted to contest from the Rajapalayam assembly seat, he should have only swapped the Sivakasi assembly constituency with the BJP. How did he leave Virudhunagar constituency? ” He asked.
Stating that his supporters were insisting that he should contest as an independent candidate from Virudhunagar assembly constituency, he said he was weighing his options. “I will take a decision after meeting the people of the constituency,” he said.
Campaign vehicle is ready, but no ticket
Meanwhile, the MLA from Srivilliputtur, M. Chandraprabha has been reopened after being allotted to the elected constituency Manuraj, Virudhunagar district panchayat president, husband of Vasanti.
Ms. Chandraprabha, who has always been seen in Mr. Bhalji’s company in all party and government functions for the past five years, has not been able to understand what went wrong. “I was promised the Srivilliputtur assembly seat for my work as an MLA by the minister (who is also the party Virudhunagar West District Secretary). He also advised me to buy a new SUV for campaigning.
After hoping to get a seat for a second term, it had raised a new vehicle and a bank loan for its modification, to be used as a promotional vehicle.
“There is a vehicle in my house. But I have been denied the ticket. However, Ms. Chandraprabha stated that she had no intention of going against the party of “Amma” (Jayalalithaa).
