Eight states – Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka and Haryana – are showing an adjective upward in the number of fresh cases.
A high number of fresh COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu continue to be reported and together 85.91% of new cases of coronovirus infection are detected in the country during 24 hours, Central Health. The ministry said on 11 March.
A total of 22,854 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the country during the said period.
The ministry said that the number of fresh cases in Maharashtra was 13,659 (about 60% of the number of cases reported in the country), followed by Kerala (2,475) and Punjab (1,393).
Eight states – Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka and Haryana – are showing an upward stalemate in the number of fresh cases.
India currently has 1,89,226 active COVID-19 cases, which is 1.68% of its total caseloid.
Showing the change in the number of active cases for the states over a 24-hour period, the Health Ministry stated that Kerala has recorded the maximum drop in figures while Maharashtra has shown the maximum increase.
The ministry said that more than 2.56 crore (2,56,85,011) vaccine doses have been taken in 4,78,168 sessions in the country so far.
Beneficiaries include 71,97,100 health workers (HCW) who are given the first dose, 40,13,249 HCWs who are given the second dose, 70,54,659 frontline workers (FLWs) who are given the first dose, and 6,37,281 FLWs. Those who have received the second dose.
In addition, 9,67,058 over 45 years of age and 58,15,664 beneficiaries over 60 years of age with specific co-morbidities have also received the first dose of the vaccine.
A total of 13,17,357 vaccine doses were administered on the 54th day of the ongoing immunization campaign (10 March) – 10,30,243 beneficiaries were vaccinated in 20,299 sessions for the first dose and 2,87,114 HCW and FLW were given the second dose. .
A total of 126 COVID-19 deaths occurred in the country over a 24-hour period.
The Health Ministry said 82.54% of the deaths occurred in six states, with Maharashtra accounting for the highest number of casualties (54), Punjab (17) and Kerala (14).
Nineteen states and union territories – Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Goa, Jharkhand, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Ladakh, Manipur, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Beveli, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Andaman And Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Arunachal Pradesh – have not reported any COVID-19 deaths in the said period.
