BT drops price of Sky TV channels and broadband bundle, but you’ll need to be fast

If you’re looking to supercharge the selection of channels on your television – you’ve got three options. You could register your interest in the all-new Sky Glass 4K TV, buy a telly-and-broadband bundle from Virgin Media, or take advantage of this limited-time sale from BT. The company, which bundles Sky-owned NOW streaming service to unlock access to exclusive channels like Sky Atlantic (not available with Virgin Media), has dropped its usual activation and postage fees until Thursday November 4, 2021.

BT’s Entertainment + Fibre 2 package is one of the best deals available from the broadband supplier right now. For £41.99 a month, you’ll get a BT TV box with complete access to Freeview channels as well as AMC, which is behind smash US shows likes Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Fear the Walking Dead. The set-top box, which boasts enough storage to store 600 hours of recorded shows, documentaries, sports and movies, also arrives with support for NOW, formerly NOW TV.

BT will bundle the NOW Entertainment Membership, which lets you watch Sky Atlantic, Sky Max, Sky Showcase, MTV, Comedy Central, and a bucket load of children’s channels. These can all be viewed live as well as on-demand. Sky Atlantic is home to some of the most talked-about and critically-lauded US dramas, like Succession, Little Big Lies, The Undoing, and Westworld, to name a few.

As if that wasn’t enough, BT is also throwing in six months of BritBox for free. This new Netflix rival – a joint partnership between BBC, ITV and Channel 4 – brings together classic boxsets and films into a vast catalogue with no advert breaks. BritBox is commissioning a range of exclusive, original series, including the return of puppet-based satire Spitting Image, which is now in its second series.

In terms of broadband speeds, the Entertainment + Fibre 2 package isn’t the most competitive on the market. You’ll get access to download speeds of around 67Mbps. If these drop below 53Mbps, you’ll be covered by BT’s Stay Fast Guarantee and could be owed a refund. The average broadband speed in the UK, as recorded earlier this year, sits at around 70Mbps.

You’ll be able to stream the latest episode of Succession in crisp High Definition from NOW without any hiccups, but those with busy households with individuals who all want to stream boxsets, back-up their photo libraries and make video calls all at the same time… might want to look at faster speeds from BT to make sure they aren’t confronted with any frustrating buffering animations.
