NEW DELHI: Pakistan has become an exporter of smartphones by sending its first-ever shipment tagged ‘manufactured in Pakistan’. Wonder which are the countries that these ‘made in Pakistan’ phones are headed to, what is the pricing and target audience. Here are answers to all these questions:
Which is the company manufacturing phones in Pakistan?
Inovi Telecom Pvt Ltd is making phones in Pakistan. Inovi Telecom was reportedly issued authorisation for mobile device manufacturing in April this year and it is said to have managed to fulfill its first export order within four months.
What smartphone brands is the company manufacturing
Chief executive of Inovi Telecom Zeeshan Mian Noor said that the company is manufacturing Chinese brands. He, howver, did not reveal the names of these brands.
Which countries are buying made in Pakistan phones
The first consignment of 5,500 mobile sets of 4G smartphones has been exported to the UAE. CEO Mian Noor said that the company’s main target is to penetrate low-end markets of the Middle East including Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.

Though there are no exact pricing details available, but the company is targeting customers in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan who prefer mobile sets up to $100 each.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority congratulates Inovi Telecom
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority congratulated the company for the achievement and hoped that the exports of smartphones would increase further. “This is the result of concerted efforts for the development of the mobile device manufacturing ecosystem in the country,” the regulator said in a statement.
Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Itel all reportedly assemble phones in Pakistan
According to a report in Tribune, in July this year, Lucky Motor Corporation entered into an agreement with Samsung Gulf Electronics to produce Samsung mobile phones in Pakistan at its automobile plant at Port Qasim. Talking to The Express Tribune, Tecno Pack Telecom CEO Aamir Allawala claimed that brands that are already manufacturing in Pakistan included Tecno, Infinix, Itel, Vivo, Oppo and Realme while Nokia is in the process of setting up a plant in September 2021.
