NEW DELHI: Earlier this week, Samsung launched its flagship latest foldable smartphone — Galaxy Z Fold 3 at its Galaxy Unpacked event. This is also the first foldable smartphone of the company to come with S Pen support. But now the company has confirmed that the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 is compatible only with the S Pen Pro and the recently launched S Pen Fold Edition.
The company has confirmed that using the S Pen with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will damage the screen. According to a report by SamMobile, the S Pen Pro and the S Pen Fold Edition come with a new tip which is softer and more retractable.
Samsung explains that when pressure is applied the mechanism prevents damage to the softer foldable display. In case you apply excessive pressure using the traditional S Pen then you may end up damaging the display of the smartphone.
The report also adds that in case you have an older S Pen then the One UI on Galaxy Z Fold 3 will notify you that it is incompatible and will refuse to work with it.
The S Pen Fold edition is only compatible with Galaxy Z Fold 3 while the S Pen Pro supports all Samsung devices that offer S Pen compatibility. Samsung will be extending all functionalities of the Galaxy Note series on the Z Fold 3 including Air Command.
The S Pen Fold Edition is priced at $50, whereas the S Pen Pro cost $100. However, in many markets Samsung is offering S Pen Fold Edition with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as part of a bundled offer.
