Vodafone has confirmed that the update won’t come into force until January 2022 and it will only affect those taking out a new contract or upgrading after August 11.
So, if you stick with your current SIM or phone plan you won’t be hit by the charges. Those signing up or switching their deal today, August 10, will also be able to avoid getting charged for checking their email on the beach next year.
In a statement sent to Express.co.uk, Vodafone confirmed: “Existing customers will not be impacted by these changes while they remain on their current price plan, and roaming in the Republic of Ireland will still be included for all customers.
“Changes to plans will come into effect from 11 August 2021 for new customers, or those who change their price plan, but roaming charges will not apply until 6 January 2022.”
