AIADMK introduces three new faces

Even as Dairy Development Minister, KT Rajendra Bhalaji has shifted from Sivakasi assembly constituency to Rajapalayam assembly seat, with AIADMK holding two sitting MLAs, MSR Rajavarman (Sattur) and M. Has refused to give ticket to Chandraprabha (Srivilliputtur – reserved).

It has allocated Virudhunagar Assembly Constituency and Tiruchuli Assembly Constituency (both organized by DMK) to its allies BJP and All India Muvendra Munnani Kazhagam. The party has introduced three new faces in the assembly elections.

Lakshmi Ganesan, a former confidant of the Tirutangal municipality and a close confidant of the minister, has been given a party seat to contest from Sivakasi assembly constituency, from where Mr. Bhalaji, who is also the district secretary of Virudhunagar, has won two consecutive elections.

Another District Secretary, RK Ravichandran (Virudhunagar Eastern District), has been given the Sattur Assembly seat in place of Shri Rajavarman, who was separated from Shri Bhalaji. Mr. Ravichandran Former Assembly Speaker K.K. Kalimuthu has younger brothers.

Meanwhile, former minister and legislator S.K. Vagiselvan has got a party ticket to contest from Aruppukottai assembly seat for the third consecutive election. After defeating the DMK leader in 2011 and winning the seat, KKSR Ramachandran lost to him in the next election of 2016. Both candidates will be playing the horn for the third time.

Mr. Rajavarman, who won from Sattur assembly constituency during the by-election, refused to give Mr. Bhalaji a ticket for the party.

“I refused to be his slave and he refused to give me a ticket,” he said.

While he won the trust of the people in his constituency, Mr. Rajavarman said, “My services will speak for me during the COVID-19 epidemic,” he said.

The MLA said that Mr. Bhalaji, being a two-time MLA and Minister, is away from Sivakasi constituency and has earned a bad name due to his anti-people activities. Mr. Rajavarman said, “He also posed a threat to my life.”

He said that his supporters would not allow Mr. Bhalaji to win from Rajapalayam.

He said that he would meet the party coordinator and joint coordinator before taking further action.

He said, “The people of my constituency will tell me.”
