Inspection of track electrification works – Hindu

Despite the economic downturn and financial constraints caused by the epidemic, track electrification has gained a great momentum during the current financial year.

Railway officials have completed the electrification of 162 route km tracks in the state spread over three railway divisions.

Commissioner of Railway Safety Abhay Kumar Rai on Tuesday conducted a mandatory inspection of the 50.56 km long route between Thalaku and Chitradurga in Mysuru Railway Division. The stretch is part of an ongoing electrification project between Rayadurga and Chikjajur.

Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru Division ‘Manoj Mahajan, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, South Western Railway; Dinesh Jain, General Manager (Electrical) Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL); And other senior officials were present during the inspection and test run.

Officials said that this section is activated by the supply of 25000 volts, 50 Hz, AC. Statutory warning boards have been displayed at important places to create awareness among the public, passengers and workers for their safety.

Railway officials said here that the electrification of the broad gauge network by 2023 is part of the electrification track released by the Indian Railways to complete.

Incidentally, the Mysuru Railway Division received sufficient funds in the Union Budget for track electrification and this is expected to accelerate the work. The division has received ₹ 112 crore for the year 2021-22 for the Mysuru-Hassan section which also connects to Mangaluru and is a major route for both freight and passenger traffic. This stretch in the Mysuru division received the highest allocation in the entire state for electrification.

According to sources, the track electrification work does not hinge on land acquisition, so the works are expected to be completed as scheduled.

The Mysuru-Chamarajanagar section, which received ₹ 17.83 crore, will cover a distance of 61 km and the Kadur-Chikkamagaluru section 46 km, which will receive ₹ 5.89 crore.

In addition to the 50.56 route km track in Mysuru division, the electrification of 47 route km track between Perianagathunai – Palakkadu, which is part of the Bayappanahalli-Omalur section, and the 65 route track between Hubli and Alnavar which is part of Hosapet. The Hubli-Vasco section has also been completed and the sections were recently inspected by CRS.
