Police arrested BJP candidate Palivala Raju and six others and seized cash worth ₹ 37,000 from them while distributing cash to voters in the 7th ward of Ramachandrapuram municipality late on Tuesday night. Mr. Raju is contesting in the 7th Ward.
Speaking to Hindu, Ramachandrapuram Circle Inspector V. Srinivas has said: “BJP contestant Palivla Raju and six others have been found distributing cash to voters in a building during the midnight raids on Tuesday. Cash worth ₹ 37,000 has been seized from them during the raid. The police conducted raids on the basis of a tip by the local people.
“Cases have been registered for violation of the Model Model Code of Conduct and investigations are on. Srinivas said seven people have been arrested and produced in a local court on Wednesday.
