A panel of 20 experts on Monday began a debate on the cause of the death of Argentine football icon Diego Maradona to determine whether there was negligence on the part of health care professionals. Maradona, who is 60 years old, died of a heart attack on November 25, a few weeks after brain surgery on a blood clot. Investigators are looking at the health treatment he received prior to his death to determine if a wrongful death case did not come, for which the convict would face a jail term of up to 15 years.
The panel of experts, selected by 10 official experts and more than 10 interested parties, is due to give its findings in two or three weeks.

Maradona’s neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, Psychiatrist Agustina Kosakov and psychologist Carlos Diaz are investigating as two nurses, a nursing coordinator and a medical coordinator.
Two of football’s great daughters – Gianina, 31 and Jana, 24 – have accused Maradona of taking responsibility for the looks in his deteriorating health.
Maradona underwent surgery on 3 November, four days after he celebrated his 60th birthday at the club, coaching Gimnasia Y Agrima.
However, he then appeared to be in poor health and had trouble speaking.
Maradona battled cocaine and alcohol addictions during his life.
When he died, he was suffering from liver, kidney and cardiovascular diseases.
“The last time Giannina visited Maradona, he noticed that he was very swollen. He demonstrated physical and cognitive deterioration in the weeks before his death,” said Rodolfo Bak, one of the two nurses screened for Has gone.
