Apple has rolled out the Safari 15 beta for macOS Catalina, as per a report by 9To5Mac, which also claimed that Apple has sent invites to some users to join the AppleSeed program and then try a pre-release version of Safari 15 and provide their feedback. Conversely, a report by MacRumors claims that the Safari 15 beta version is available to all the users through the developer account and does not require AppleSeed Program through which select users get an exclusive invite by Apple.
The Safari 15 beta is also independent of the Safari Technology Preview. Both the programs, however, are designed to acquaint users of macOS Catalina and macOS Big Sur with the new updates the Apple browser is getting without having to upgrade the OS of their system to macOS Monterrey. While the Safari Technology Preview is for macOS Big Sur users, the Apple Safari 15 beta is for the macOS Catalina users.
One of the changes Safari 15 has ushered in is a unified bar that merges the address bar with the tab bar To accomplish this, a number of buttons were hidden from the main interface, something which the users reportedly didn’t like much. In earlier versions of Safari 15, the dedicated URL and search interface was done away with and tabs were arranged at the top of the display. These design changes were made optional after the users complained about them.
