BBK-owned consumer technology brand Oppo is set to launch a new smartwatch — to be called Oppo Watch 2 — on July 27 in its home country China.
The device will be the successor to the Oppo Watch that was launched in India in July 2020 and in China in March 2020.
Oppo Watch 2: Expected features and specifications
An official listing on JD.com of the soon to be launched device shows that it will sport a rectangular dial same as its predecessor. It will also house two buttons on the right.
In terms of features, it is said to offer an e-SIM support as well as a heart rate monitor. The device is also coming equipped with 50 sports mode and be water resistant as it is IPX5 certified.
The upcoming Oppo Watch is said to be launched in multiple size variants, just as its predecessor. The variants are expected to be 42mm and 46mm.
Separately, a report by ITHomes has shed some light on the likely specs of the Oppo Watch 2. According to the report, it will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC — making it one of the first few smartwatches to run on Qualcomm’s most recently launched chipsets for wearables.
With this chipset, Oppo is said to make use of Apollo 4s chip that it has co-developed with Ambiq. The Apollo 4s is supposed to be an ultra-low power SoC, it will likely be for improved battery life of the device.
These chipsets are said to be coupled with 16GB of internal storage.
Oppo Watch 2 India availability
At this point, there is no confirmation whether or not Oppo will launch the device in India. However, we do expect it to make its way to the Indian market later this year or early next year.
