NEW DELHI: Twitter will soon allow Android users to sign in using their Google account when accessing Twitter via an Android device.
According to a report by 9to5Google, Twitter beta update for Android will now enable users to log in using a connected Google Account.
The social networking giant has been working for a long time for this integration. The report also suggests that Twitter is also working on a similar feature for Apple Account sign-in.
The report adds that this new feature will enable users to login to create an account using their existing details. With this new feature in place, users will no longer have to fill in the basic information like your name and email address. Along with this, it will also negate the password requirement.
In case you already have a Twitter account then you can utilise your Google Account email to login and omit the step of entering the password. On the other hand, if you don’t have a Twitter account, then you can create one using your Google sign-in option.
The option to sign in with a Google Account on Twitter is presently live on Twitter version 9.3.0-beta.04.
Recently, Twitter announced the shut down of its year old feature — Fleets earlier this week. Within a year of the launch of Fleets, Twitter feels that Fleets has no future and has announced that it is shutting down Fleets starting August 3, 2021. The social media platform also said that instead of Fleets it will introduce “other ways for people to share on Twitter”.
Twitter admitted that not many users were interested in Fleets. “We haven’t seen an increase in the number of new people joining the conversation with Fleets like we hoped,” it said in a blog post.
