We are less than two months away from the expected launch of the 2021 iPhones. It’s also that time of the year when the rumour mills go in overdrive with leaks and snippets of information about the upcoming iPhones. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared a few features that could be a part of the iPhone 13.
Gurman said that the one display feature that could make its way — some might say finally — is the always-on mode. The always-on mode display feature would give iPhone users the option to access some information — time, weather, notifications — without actually waking the iPhone. The feature has already been part of the Apple Watch for the last two years. Also, rumours about the always-on display pop up almost every year since the launch of the iPhone X.
Always-on display mode has also been part of Android phones from Samsung, OnePlus and others. Could Apple finally make it a reality? We will have to wait and watch till the iPhones officially arrive
Gurman in his weekly newsletter noted that “Expect a faster A15 chip, smaller notch, a new display for better battery life and the potential of an Apple Watch-like always on mode and a 120Hz refresh rate and upgrades to video recording.”
There has been a lot of clamour for the 120Hz refresh rate in the iPhone’s display and if Gurman is to be believed Apple could very include it in 2021. Though it has to be said that last year, similar noises were made from the rumours coming from Apple’s supply chain. Again, this is a feature that has been part of mid-range and premium Android phones for about a year now.
The A15 chip is no surprise as Apple without fail puts in a new chip every year in the iPhone.
The smaller notch has also been mooted about by quite a few tipsters and analysts.
