Windows 365: Microsoft launches Cloud PC for Windows 365 users: What is it and why it’s important – morningtidings

Microsoft, on Wednesday at its Inspire conference, announced Windows 365, company’s first cloud-based subscription-based Windows license.
Dubbed as Cloud PC, it is basically a virtual machine running Windows 10 or Windows 11 (when available) and allows users to log into their system from anywhere, using any device with internet access.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said during the ‘Microsoft Inspire 2021’ event, “Just like applications were brought to the cloud with SaaS, we are now bringing the operating system to the cloud, providing organisations with greater flexibility and a secure way to empower their workforce to be more productive and connected, regardless of location”.
The service will be available starting August 2 in two versions — Windows 365 Business and Windows 365 Enterprise.
Microsoft has not yet confirmed anything about the pricing or the configurations in which the Windows 365 will be available.
However, the Windows 365 announcement shows that the service will be available in multiple configurations based on CPU, RAM and storage. The preview shows three configurations:

  • 8v CPU, 16GB RAM and 512GB storage
  • 4v CPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage
  • 2v CPU, 4GB RAM and 256GB storage

Apart from that, the Windows 365 will also allow companies to provide its employees a system with better performance, enterprise-level security and updated operating system.
Also, Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 365 Cloud PC will provide a complete Windows-experience and it will support all the apps, softwares, tools and settings like a regular Windows device.
