Police said a Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) jawan was killed on Thursday when a Pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted by Naxalites, fell in Dantewada district of the state.
The incident occurred around 1 pm near Pahurnar village under Gidam Police Station area when a joint team of the security force was patrolling to ensure security for the bridge construction work, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundararaj P. PTI.
He said that the personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and CAF had launched a field-dominated operation from the Chhindnar police camp to provide security for the bridge construction on the Indravati River.

The IG said that he later succumbed. He said that Mr. Dwivedi was a native of neighboring Madhya Pradesh in Rewa district.
