NEW DELHI: Smartphone maker Xiaomi launched its flagship smartphone Mi 11 Ultra last year. It was the first smartphone to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. Now, it appears that the company might launch its new premium smartphone — Mi 12 by the end of this year.
Chipset manufacturer Qualcomm is working on its next-generation flagship processor, likely to be called Snapdragon 895. It is expected that the company might unveil the new chipset in early December this year. This means that the smartphone makers will also launch their flagship devices early. So, there is a possibility that Xiaomi might also launch its next-generation flagship smartphone Mi 12 by the end of this year.
According to the popular tipster Ice Universe, Qualcomm is expected to launch its next-generation Snapdragon 895 SoC in early December this year. So, same as last year Xiaomi might also unveil its next-generation Mi 12 smartphone at the same time. Presently, there is not much information available about the upcoming smartphone. However, it is said to come with an upgraded camera and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 processor.
The tipster also claims that the upcoming Snapdragon processor will be seen in the flagship smartphones which will launch in the first half of 2022. Rumours also suggest that Qualcomm might launch the Snapdragon 895+ processor in June next year and this SoC will power high-end smartphones launching in the second half of 2022.
Meanwhile, Qualcomm’s chief thinks that by next year his company will have a chip for laptops that will compete against the custom-designed central processor chip introduced by Apple.
This new chip introduced by Apple claims to boost the battery life of the device.
Qualcomm Chief Executive Cristiano Amon told Reuters, he believes his company can have the best chip on the market, with help from a team of chip architects who formerly worked on the Apple chip but now work at Qualcomm.
