Glenn Maxwell gave his IPL 2021 campaign a grand start against Mumbai Indians on Friday with 39 runs off just 28 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore. With eight fours and two sixes, Maxwell’s innings included a six by Krunal Pandya, who bounced off the roof of MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and sent the ball over the stands and over the field. At that time, non-striker Virat Kohli was surprised at the strike and his reaction said it all.

Maxwell, particularly known for his unorthodox shots in the shortest format of the game, also hit Rahul Chahar for a six before dismissing his innings debutant Marco Janssen.
Coming to bat on the fall of the second wicket in the sixth over, Maxwell along with his captain Kohli added 52 runs for the third wicket.
Maxwell, who ended a tough race with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the IPL 2020, changed the fortunes with the new season.
He scored just 108 runs in 13 matches for the Punjab Kings last season and did not manage to hit a single six.

He was released by the Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL auction and RCB defrauded him of Rs 14.25 crore.
Overall, Maxwell scored 1544 runs in 83 matches at 22.37 with a strike rate of 154.24 with six half-centuries.
