Abraham Aniser is on the wrong side of the cutline title in Round 2 in the Masters tournament on Friday, and did not even know it until his opening round ended.
Eniser completed his first round at the Masters, thinking that he had scored 1 over-par 73, which tied him for the 20th heading into the second round. The ruling changed Ancer’s initial score from the bogey to a triple bogey on a par-5 hole. Anisar said he was “ashamed” at the decision, tweeting a video of the violation.

Curiously, Hiler said that the Rules Committee decided to assess the punishment to Anisar only because its violation “can be seen with the naked eye.” Had it not been so, the punishment would have been disregarded. Whether Anisar’s violation falls under that category is certainly subject to debate, especially when it makes such a huge impact on whether it will make the weekend cuts.
Despite this, Anisar’s score dropped to a three-over 75 level, dropping him to 56th place and putting him dangerously close to the cut line (2 overs equal).
