The Court of Arbitration for Sport said on Wednesday that Russian Olympic champions Natalya Antyukh and Andrey Silnov have been banned for four years for doping after being named in the 2016 McLaren Report. The report, commissioned by the World Anti-Doping Agency, said that both Antyut and Silnov were charged last year on charges of anti-doping violations that a system of state-sponsored doping allegedly existed in Russia.

36-year-old Cilanov won the high jump title at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 39-year-old Antyuk won the gold medal in the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the 2012 London Games. He also won a bronze in the 400 meters and a silver medal in the 4×400 meter relay in Athens in 2004.

Both athletes would retain those medals as the CAS decided that only their results would be canceled from 2013 onwards.

Silnov has not competed since 2016, but was vice president of the Russian Athletics Federation until 2019, when he stood.

Sport’s top court also punished two other Russian athletes named in the McLaren Report, middle-distance runner Yelena Soboleva and hammer thrower Oksana Kondratyeva.

Soboleva was banned for eight years and all of his results were canceled from 2011 to 2016, Cass said, without giving his reasons for the decision. She has already snatched her 1500-meter silver medal from the 2007 World Championships.

Kondarayeva, who never won a major medal, was banned for four years.

Cass also cut the length of the ban for four Russians, including high jumper Ivan Ukhov, whose ban was reduced from four years to two years, nine months.

Ukhov’s earlier decision to land the 2012 Olympic High Jump title for doping has not been affected.
