To prevent the spread of the virus, athletes who have tested positive have been transferred to a hospital as a precautionary measure.

The SAI had instructed all NCOEs to strictly follow their existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) with an emphasis on conducting routine precautionary tests.

On March 31, after 741 precautionary tests were conducted at the National Center of Excellence in Patiala and Bengaluru, 30 players and support staff were found to be COVID-19 positive under discipline.

However, positive results at both centers did not include athletes from any Tokyo Olympics.
