West Indies vs Sri Lanka, Second Test: West Indies set 377 for Sri Lanka on Day 4

The fifties of West Indies captain Craig Brathwaite, Kyle Meyers and Jason Holder helped set the target for 377 runs for hosts Sri Lanka in the ongoing second Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. At stumps on the fourth day, Sri Lanka were on 29/0 in nine overs. Lahiru Thirimane and captain Dimuth Karunaratne are unbeaten with 17 and 11 runs respectively. Sri Lanka need 348 runs to win the match on the final day of the Test. The Windies declared their second innings at 280/4 D and are in dominating position after posting a mammoth target of 377 for the visitors.

Braithwaite and John Campbell opened the innings for the hosts but later failed to last long at the crease and were dismissed for 10 runs.

In the seventh over, Niroshan Dickwella caught opener Campbell. With Nkrama Bonner battling a back injury, Jermaine Blackwood was promoted to the first drop and scored 18 runs.

Blackwood and Brathwaite added 44 for the second wicket before Blackwood (18) was dismissed by Dushamantha Chameera. The Windies were on a score of 58/2.

After Blackwood left, Kyle Meyer joined Beach with Captain Brathwaite. The duo added 82 runs for the third wicket to take the lead along with figures of three. Suranga Lakmal removed Mayer after a 55-run knock and broke the dangerous partnership.

Jason Holder came to bat at number five. Braithwaite and Holder played cautiously and added runs to the scoreboard. Both shared an 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Meanwhile, Brathwaite completed his half-century off 137 balls. Brathwaite freed his arms after the tea break, picked up the boundaries in back-to-back overs and focused on the Twenty Century.

Dushmantha Chameera bowled Brathwaite for 15 runs of his century and ended his 85-run knock.

Joshua da Silva and Holder then scored at a brisk pace, leading the team to a score of 250 runs. Meanwhile, Holder completed his 10th Test half-century.

The duo called the announcement to the Windies, adding 53 runs off 42 balls. Holder made 71 not out, including seven fours, while Da Silva was 20 not out for 16.

Earlier, Sri Lanka’s first innings was wrapped up four days earlier as Kemar Roach (3/58) bowled them out for 258 runs twice in an over.
