Mack’s return … to No. 3 overall.
ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay has dropped his latest fake format, And he has shown two of the league’s two biggest storylines advancing to the first round: Alabama QB Mack Jones is going too early, while Buckeye Fields is not.
Jones is ranked No. 3 overall in McShay’s latest mock at 49, with Fields completely slipping from the top 10 and landing with the Patriots, who traded with the Giants to select Fields at No. 11 Could.
McShay’s joke coincides with at least one hot theory this draft season: San Francisco traded at No. 3 because it wants the Alabama quarterback, and Fields is down the draft board.

Thursday’s “Get Up!” Speaking on, Domonyk Foxworth said in imitation of McShay, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan would be thinking about the area of San Francisco offense and not Jones with the trade.
Part of Foxworth’s highly entertaining tirade:
I imagine in my mind, a Kyle Shanahan offense with Justin Fields, Brandon Ayuk, Mostert, Kightle in that dominant offensive line, and I have to imagine that Kyle Shehanah sees him and gets excited. Imagine Justin Fields on the sidelines with George Kiteel in man coverage against a linebacker? …
But Mac Jones was not dealing with adverse situations. Mack Jones was ‘chillin’ in the pocket, wide open. You know why it seems that he reads his progress well enough? Because DeVonta Smith is the number 1 object, and it is always open. So let’s chill. Maybe I need to chill, I’m the only one getting it. But it is so confusing to me how these people evaluate themselves and talk about protecting people with this code language and the ability to read stuff like that. Stones doing there like Mac Jones – he’s not. He is throwing the open man outside, who is an All-American.
Foxworth mentions that Jones was at least partially the product of Alabama and its incredible offensive talent, with wide receivers Jaylen Wadle and Devonta Smith and Nazi Harris running.
In any case, McShay’s counterfeit is now in the ether, and it is not to be stopped.
