IPL 2021: Suresh Raina’s “Three Musketeers” post will excite you for 2020

The countdown to the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has begun and it is not just fans who cannot contain their excitement. The Instagram post of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran Suresh Raina makes it clear that the players are also in addition to the upcoming T20 cricket. Sitting next to teammates Robin Uthappa and Dwayne Bravo, Raina is all smiling and captioned the post: “Three Musketeers together again !!”

The stylish Southpow pulled out of the previous edition of the IPL, which was delayed in view of the COVID-19 epidemic, allegedly for personal reasons. With 5,368 runs in 193 games, the 34-year-old CSK batsman is primarily the second highest run-scorer in IPL history.

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was also forced out of the cash-rich league last year due to injury. Bravo has been a key player in the MS Dhoni-led franchise for years.

For Uthappa, who started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2008, CSK will be his sixth franchise. He was traded by the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming season before the auction.

He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. He then went to Pune Warriors India for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons before being acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for six consecutive seasons – 2014 to 2019. In 2020, he represented Rajasthan Royals.

A few days ago, in another Instagram post on the official handle of CSK, Uthappa said it felt good being there on the field. Moving on to his tenure with CSK, he said “it’s nice to wear yellow clothes”.

The CSK camp has also been bolstered by the arrival of England all-rounder Sam Curran, who single-handedly pulled it out for England in the decider of the ODI series in Pune a few days ago.

With his international commitments, Karran, now, monitors a successful IPL stent with his Chennai team.

Some other players from the CSK camp, who did not play in the limited overs India vs England series, have already joined the team.

India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is among those who had previously joined the camp in Mumbai, served a mandatory quarantine period, and started training in a yellow jersey for the first time. Pujara last played IPL in 2014. During the auction this February, he was bought by CSK for his base price of Rs 50 lakh.

CSK opened its campaign on 10 April last year in Mumbai against last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals. A day earlier, on 9 April, the tournament closed with a game between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
