Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) said on Tuesday that it has bagged a large order for the sulfur recovery unit from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
, With a value of over 400 crores, the package envisages setting up of 525 TPD sulfur recovery units at Paradip Refinery of IOC in Odisha. Stating that it has received the order amid international competitive bidding, BHEL said that on completion of the order it would be installed as a one-time turn key (LSTK) player for the process package in the downstream oil and gas sector.
“This is a milestone for BHEL. The contract includes BHEL’s scope of project management, residual process design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, supply, testing, construction, construction, commissioning and performance guarantee,” a release said. Guarantee trials are included. The project is scheduled to be completed in 25 months.
The order is in line with the strategy of diversification into non-coal based business sectors, which BHEL said had already started paying dividends. Apart from the thermal power sector, BHEL offers a wide range of products for major sectors. The release states that comprehensive solutions for transportation, transmission, renewal, energy storage systems and e-mobility, water management, defense and aerospace, captive power generation and mechanical and electrical industrial products are included.
