Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon on Tuesday banned a match for blasphemy that would be ruled out of next week’s Turin derby. The 43-year-old Italian World Cup winner was fined 5,000 euros ($ 6,000) last month by the Italian Football Federation, but survived the ban.
However, the FIGC’s Court of Appeals upheld and banned the federal prosecutor’s appeal, meaning Buffon would be ruled out in Torino on Saturday.
Buffon felt very bad at Juve’s use of “blasphemous expression” against teammate Manolo Portanova during Juve’s 4–0 league win over Parma on 19 December.
Buffon, who holds a record of the Serie A matches played with 654, was not caught on camera, but there was an audio recording of the incident.
Since 2010, the Italian FA has taken disciplinary action against many players and coaches who disrespect God or the Holy.

But penalties have increased this season with empty stadiums allowed to occupy heated exchanges between players and coaches.
AS Roma midfielder Brian Cristante and Lazio’s Manuel Lazari were suspended for a match this season for “defamatory” comments.
