A 73-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sexual exploitation with a minor girl, a third-grade student.
Police said that this man, who belonged to Gandhi Managar, used to run a grocery shop in the area. The girl from the area visited the store a few days ago and the man allegedly sexually assaulted her inside the store.
The girl ran out of the store shouting for help and her elder brother, playing nearby, informed the parents about the incident.
The parents lodged a complaint with the Saravanampatti police, who arrested the man under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses.
Police said the accused were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
