Deputy Commissioner of Udupi G. Jagdish said that more than 5,000 students will undergo RT-PCR test on the campus of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), as 52 students tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In his address posted on Facebook, Mr. Jagdish said that a significant number of positive cases in the Udupi district were from the MIT campus. 25 students tested positive on Tuesday, while 27 students tested positive on Wednesday. The MIT campus has now been declared a control area and students cannot go out there. To ask the students to use all precautions, Mr. Jagdish said that the Health Department would subject all 5,000 students of the campus to RT-PCR testing.
