Chennai Customs seized 5.55 kg of gold worth ₹ 2.53 crore from passengers.
Authorities found 595 grams of gold as a paste under the wigs of Maghrob Akbarli and Zubair Hasan Rafiuthin from Dubai. Baloo Ganesan, who was in the same flight, hid 622 grams of gold on his person and was arrested.
On Saturday, Anbazhagan, a passenger who hid 1.3 kg of gold in his socks and underwear, and Thamin Ansari, who had come to collect the gold, were arrested.
In another case, officers found 933 grams of gold placed in a cloth bag concealed in a hollow pipe under the seat of an aircraft, the release said.
On Friday, Syed Ahmadullah, Santosh Selvam and Abdullah, who hail from Dubai and Sharjah, were arrested for hiding 2.08 kg of gold under their wigs.
