48 kg of cannabis seized at Aluva railway station

In a joint operation, the Aluva Range Excise and Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Aluva railway station allegedly arrested two persons with 48 kg of cannabis.

Those arrested were identified as 26-year-old Nidhinath of Malappuram and 45-year-old Sudhir Krishna from Karnataka. An Idukki resident smuggler from Andhra Pradesh was arrested for smuggling cannabis.

Excise sleuths claimed that Arrest confessed to smuggling in contradiction regarding the upcoming election. They were traveling in the train’s AC compartment with fake identity cards.

Hemp smuggled from Andhra Pradesh was being sold as a premium variety from Idukki to meet the increased demand for elections. Excise has deployed a special team to investigate smuggling of drugs from outside the state.

Excise Inspector R. Ai Raj, RPF Sub Inspector PV Raju, Preventive Officer NG Ajitkumar, Civil Excise Officer ND Tomi, Ratish KR, Girish Krishnan, S. A team including Anoop, Neetu PU, and Thasia KM made the arrest.
