On Monday, Minister of State for Defense Shripad Naik said that a total of 42,848 personnel of total services have tested positive for COVID-19.
In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Naik said, the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the Indian Army is 32,690 and the death rate is 0.24%.
He has cited 6.554 and 3,604 COVID positive cases in the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy respectively.
They stated that their mortality rates are 0.39% and 0.05% respectively. “As per the rules, no special compensation for deaths due to infectious disease is provided to the armed forces personnel while they are in service. However, terminal benefit is provided to all such cases of death while in service, ”said Naik.
