The number of COVID 19 cases registered in Karnataka crossed the 1,000 mark on Tuesday. There were 1135 new COVID 19 cases in the state.
According to the media bulletin of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, 710 cases were reported from Bengaluru Urban alone. The last number of 1,000 was on 25 December when 1,005 cases were reported.
There were 9,428 active cases and 129 patients are in ICUs across the state. 68,469 COVID 19 trials were conducted. Of these, 61,984 trials were RT PCR tests, while the rest were rapid antigen tests.
The positivity rate for the day was 1.65%, while the case mortality rate for the day was 0.52%. Six COVID 19 deaths occurred in the state, with a total of 12,403 cases.
A total of 82,038 people were vaccinated on Tuesday in Karnataka, with a total number of 16.35 lakhs. This includes the first and second doses of health care workers, the first dose for front-line workers and those above 60 years of age, and those aged 45 to 60 with comradeship. A serious adverse effect after vaccination was reported on Tuesday, although no serious AEFI was reported.
A severe AEFI case has come to light from the BBMP boundary. The patient has been identified as a 70-year-old male vaccinated with Kovild on 8 March at a public health center in Chikkaballapur district. A media bulletin stated that on the same day, she developed fever, cough and difficulty breathing and the symptoms persisted for two days. He was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Disease, Bangalore and is now admitted to the ward and is stable.
1,989 sessions were held on Tuesday and 1,983 sessions were held.
